Since SustainFloyd founded our local community market in 2009 we have operated the Floyd Farmers Market on Saturday mornings from May to November each year. This year’s market was the best ever, with more sales (vendors’ gross sales increased 72% over last year’s sales), bringing more wonderful local food to our community members and supporting our local farmers and food entrepreneurs.

In addition, we provided more than $8,000 of matching funds for the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits program at the market, which allows SNAP participants to purchase twice the amount of fresh local food with the SNAP tokens.

And, of course, the beauty of a Farmers Market is how it brings the community together. Those Saturday mornings were full of joyful meetings with friends and chance encounters. Thanks to our market manager, Agatha Grimsley for a wonderful market year!
