Fall Film Series: Decoding the Weather Machine

October 18, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Please note, we had to change the date for weather and road closures. The first film event will be on Thursday, October 18th! Same place, same time, same details!

Our first fall film series event will kick off with Decoding the Weather Machine. This PBS and NOVA documentary will explore weather change and how it is impacting us.

“Disastrous hurricanes. Widespread droughts and wildfires. Withering heat. Extreme rainfall. It is hard not to conclude that something’s up with the weather, and many scientists agree. It’s the result of the weather machine itself—our climate—changing, becoming hotter and more erratic.”

This night will be a bit different than our regular film nights. Since this film is two hours, we will open the doors at The Floyd Country Store at 6PM with brief announcements at 6:15PM and the film starting no later than 6:30PM.

We encourage you to bring finger foods only so you can snack during the film. We won’t have the dinner tables set up so we can get the film started as soon as possible, but bring small plates and enjoy a “dinner theater” or “snack theater” experience.

Coffee and water will be provided, and a suggested $5 donation is accepted at the door.

After the film, there will be a panel discussion with Dave Wert with the Blacksburg National Weather Service! So, stay around and hear what he has to say about our weather!

We are very much looking forward to bringing you this film and we thank AECP for sponsoring this film.
