Lavender Mist Farm is located in Floyd County, Virginia, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. The farm design was started in 2013 by a retired school teacher, with the kind help of wonderful neighbors. The inspiration to grow lavender was from research on plants that repel ticks, are deer resistant, and support bumblebees and butterflies. No chemicals are used.
There are over 600 plants on the farm. The elevation at the farm is around 2,700 feet. Cold-hardy varieties for climate zone five were selected, such as Blue River, Folgate, Impress Purple, Miss Katherine, and True Grosso. It is a wholesale business. Owner will trade and is a member of the United States Lavender Growers Association.
Harvest is done by hand and buds are triple cleaned. Dried lavender bouquets, long stems, toss bags for weddings, and colorful sachets. Will package and ship. Farm visit for fresh-cut lavender by appointment.
