SustainFloyd (www.sustainfloyd.org) and the Floyd Farmers Market in downtown Floyd will host “Breakfast at the Market” from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. this Saturday, June 1st, featuring all you can eat homemade buckwheat pancakes with real maple syrup and live music. SustainFloyd members and volunteers will prepare the pancakes with fruit toppings, scrambled eggs, potato bake, orange juice and Red Rooster coffee. Local ingredients from area farms will be used. All this, along with good conversation and live music can be purchased for $7/Adult ($6 for SustainFloyd members) and $5/children 11-and-under. Sausage may be added for $2 more. No reservation is needed.
“Breakfast at the Market is a Rite of Spring for Floyd,” says Mike Burton, SustainFloyd’s Director. “The food is delicious and the setting amid the busy Floyd Farmers Market is bustling, energetic and fun. The Breakfast is also one of SustainFloyd’s most successful fundraisers for the market, so we hope everyone will come out, have a great time and consider joining the organization or making a donation to keep the market going.”
Those attending the breakfast can also shop for local, sustainably produced vegetables, fruit, eggs, and meats at the Floyd Farmers Market. Local florists, cheese makers, bakers and crafters will also sell their wares. In addition, each Friday evening the Community Market Pavilion hosts the Floyd Artisans Market featuring the best local crafts in the area.
There will be no advance ticket sales for Breakfast at the Market. Just show up to enjoy this wonderful community event. For more information or to volunteer at the breakfast, check www.sustainfloyd.org or contact Mason Adams at mason@sustainfloyd.org or 745-7333.
