Film Appeals to Viewers across Political Spectrum
Floyd, Virginia – Do you believe in climate change? “Carbon Nation,” to be screened by SustainFloyd at 7 p.m. on Saturday night, April 14th at the Floyd Country Store, claims it doesn’t matter, because there are solutions that not only promote a clean environment, but will also boost the economy, and increase national security and energy security.
Admission to the movie is $5. Everyone is invited! The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and there will be refreshments available for donations. The April 14th event is sponsored by SolShine Energy Alternatives of Floyd. A distinguished panel of speakers will follow the screening for those who wish to stay for a discussion.
“Carbon Nation” is entertaining and it does not preach,” says SustainFloyd Director Mike Burton. “Instead, this solutions-based film shows how there are pragmatic approaches to tackling climate change that are also good business.”
“Carbon Nation,” a documentary by director Peter Byck, premiered as the closing film at the Environmental Film Festival in The Nation’s Capital. Such notable people as Richard Branson (CEO, Virgin Group), Thomas L. Friedman (New York Times) and Former CIA Director James Woolsey appear in the movie. “Carbon Nation” was awarded the prestigious IVCA Clarion Award in London. The movie was also nominated for “Best Documentary” at the prestigious 21st Annual Environmental Media Awards presented by the Environmental Media Association.
