Support Native Biodiversity
Interested in planting more native trees and shrubs into our local landscape? SustainFloyd is partnered with Plant SWVA Natives to offer discounted packages for bareroot native species- available for online pre-order and pick up Floyd Farmers Market! The plants must be pre-ordered using the QR code above or by clicking the button below.
For those who have ordered plants, they will be available for pick up at the Floyd Farmers Market on March 8, 2024 from 10am to 1pm. You simply need to choose Floyd as your pick-up location when you order.
Tree Guards
We highly recommend using a tree guard with your new plants as pressure from deer and small mammals is strong in this area. They will quickly strip bark from young plants, often killing the plant in the process. Tree tubes are available for sale: Used 4′ for $5 and New 5′ for $8.
Planting these bird and butterfly friendly trees and shrubs is a way to support the biodiversity of this critical migration path of the Southern Appalachians. It will also add beauty and diversity to our local Floyd vistas.
