Chili and Cornbread Dinner to Accompany Film at Floyd Country Store
Floyd, Virginia – Where can you get a good movie and dinner for $10? On Saturday, January 19th SustainFloyd (www.sustainfloyd.org) will screen the award-winning documentary “Revenge of the Electric Car” at the Floyd Country Store for $5. A chili and cornbread dinner will be offered for an additional $5. Doors open at 6 p.m. The evening is sponsored by the Association of Energy Conservation Professionals (AECP). A panel discussion will follow the movie.
“This is an exciting film about the dawning of the age of electric and hybrid cars,” said SustainFloyd Board Member Jackie Crenshaw. “You don’t have to be a car buff to enjoy it. It’s a fast-paced, engrossing documentary that showcases many of the fascinating personalities on the cutting edge of this revolution.”
Director Chris Paine takes his film crew behind the closed doors of Nissan, GM, and the Silicon Valley start-up Tesla Motors to chronicle the story of the global resurgence of electric cars. The movie is narrated by actor Tim Robbins.
“Revenge of the Electric Car” was a New York Times “Critics’ Pick.” The Times’ Daniel Gold wrote, “’Revenge’ is that rare artifact, a snapshot of a major industry shift on its way to a tipping point… a slick, enjoyable valentine to a retooling industry.”
The second film in the 2013 SF Winter Film Series will be “Cafeteria Man” on Saturday, February 16th at the Floyd Country Store.
