This Working Group’s evolving function is to foster an intentional effort to capture the stories of the organization within the community and those of the community at large. Through narratives, including interviews, essays, poetry, photography and other expressive media, we explore what it means to strive for a resilient, just, and sustainable state of well-being in Floyd County and Southwest Virginia.
One of the most tangible impacts of this group is the Floyd Food Guide. This print and digital resource may grow to include a rich exploration of Who We Are in Floyd, and evolve into the Market Guide and Almanac.
The Stories section of the website serves as a pleasant and informative vignette of SustainFloyd’s board, volunteers, members and the farmers and neighbors that make this place all that it is and all that it is becoming.
This working group is also be active in the creation, marketing, and development of a soon-to-be-announced project that will make it easier to know who produces what kinds of foods or offers agriculture-related products or services within the county. More about this very soon!
