Voluntours March 2016

Students Serve and Learn in Floyd

For four years – 2012 through 2016 – SustainFloyd hosted twenty-something twenty-something year olds from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.

It was a life-changing experience for many of them – a first time experience of cooking their own meals, stoking the wood stove that would keep them warm, gathering eggs, pulling weeds and dancing with the rest of us on their final night, at the Floyd Country Store.

Jackie Crenshaw reflected on the most recent group of students once received under the “Voluntours” program heading, but for the past two years, christened the FLEX program – the Floyd Experience.
