Why Donate?

By making a donation to Sustain Floyd, you help to support programs like these:

Food Programs

From our weekly Farmers Market, EBT Program and Farm to School Program to our Food Guide and Film Series, we’re helping folks in Floyd County eat healthier and keep their food dollars in Floyd!

Educational Programs

We all struggle to stay abreast of the latest developments and to understand the complex issues facing our planet and community. With our workshops and films, we help promote community dialog.

Natural Resources

Projects like the Blue Ridge Eco Fair, solar VoltzWagon, adopt a service tree program, and recycling initiatives highlight ways in which we can help to protect the beautiful natural resources of our county.

Our Current Fundraising Focus

If you would like your donation to go to a specific cause, please note in the comments box on our donation form. General donations are very appreciated as well. Thank you!

Blue Ridge Eco Fair

The Blue Ridge Eco Fair builds on the foundation established by our Floyd Energy Fest. The expanded event includes a wide range of presentations, activities and vendors relating to alternative energy and transportation, agriculture, small and tiny houses, reducing waste and pollutants, and the joy of a simpler lifestyle. Collectively, our community has an incredible amount of knowledge and experience in simple living, and we are creating a space and moment in time to share and build upon ideas and practices.

Floyd Farmers Market 2020

Farmers Market

With the challenge of Covid-19 we have had to work extra hard to bring the Farmers Market to the community. It is now running well, with social distancing and great care to hygiene and safety. Because our usual sponsors, our local business community, have not had the funds to support the market this year we look to the generosity of our donors to help us keep going through the season. The current situation has made us very aware of the immense value of local foods and a strong food system, work that has always been a central part of our mission.

SNAP Wells Fargo Donation

Snap Benefits Program: Improving Access to Local Foods

For every dollar donated, the SNAP program will match it. This means that with a $25 donation you allow a family to buy $50 worth of healthy local food directly from the farmers. Your donation will go directly to helping local families purchase food from local farmers.

Climate Change Factories

The 20/20/20 Pledge

In 2019 we worked with a local high school group to create a video of teenage views on climate change. Listening to the perspectives of young people is critical in learning how to support them. Your donations will provide funding for the continuation of the project, and support a public screening in the future, allowing the voices of our youth to be heard.
