Our Fundraising Focus

Expanded Energy Fest: The Blue Ridge EcoFair

The new Blue Ridge EcoFair will build on the foundation established by our Floyd Energy Fest. The expanded event will include a wide range of presentations, activities and vendors relating to alternative energy and transportation, small and tiny houses, reducing waste and pollutants, and the joy of a simpler lifestyle. Collectively, our community has an incredible amount of knowledge and experience in simple living, and we are creating a space and moment in time to share and build upon ideas and practices. Because of the pandemic it is likely that this event, scheduled October 3, will be online only this year, however this will form the beginning of a growing libary of information for the community which will complement and expand the in-person events we hold in the future. Your donation will help with the development, growth, and implementation of this project.

Farmers Market

With the challenge of Covid-19 we have had to work extra hard to bring the Farmers Market to the community. It is now running well, with social distancing and great care to hygiene and safety. Because our usual sponsors, our local business community, have not had the funds to support the market this year we look to the generosity of our donors to help us keep going through the season.

The current situation has made us very aware of the immense value of local foods and a strong food system, work that has always been a central part of our mission.

SNAP Benefits Program: Improving Access to Local Foods

For every dollar donated, the SNAP program will match it. This means that with a $25 donation you allow a family to buy $50 worth of healthy local food directly from the farmers. Your donation will go directly to helping local families purchase food from local farmers.

The 20/20/20 Pledge

In 2019 we worked with a local high school group to create a video of teenage views on climate change. We plan to follow this project with a wider call for input from the youth of our community. Listening to the perspectives of young people is critical in learning how to support them. Your donations will provide funding for the continuation of the project, and support a public screening in the future, allowing the voices of our youth to be heard.
